Goth Scene Dating

August 1st, 2007 (04:14 pm)

Yes, soooooo, since I last posted for PPP, the rules have changed. Poo for me; poo on them. Anyway, my disappointment noted, let's get on with goth dating!

Let me start off with a disclaimer; I'm not gothic. I'm not even close. I tend toward punk styles, but I'm not really that either. That said, goths are a diverse group of individuals centered around music and, to a lesser degree, art. Gothic personals, you ask? You can check out the site for yourself, if you like, but essentially... www.GothScene.com is a place for similarly-minded people to congregate and be romantic (or, at least, flirtatious), just like my previous dating site posts. I just want to help lay out all the options.

[I thought a grey sponsor bar would be appropriate for this post since they don't offer black and grey was the gothiest color choice.]

Big Beautiful Women

July 30th, 2007 (10:41 pm)

Find the big beautiful woman of your dreams at www.BBWromance.com. Often shortened to simply "BBW," big beautiful women have a lot more going for them than you may at first realise. American culture is supersaturated with the "I must be skinny to be loved" body type that women who actually enjoy their curvy figures are often shunned and degraded for being "fat"... which they're not. It's about time someone thought of bbw dating.

I have a lot of trouble with this kind of reaction to Latifah's body type (scroll down past the first photo for commentary). It's terrible to assume that--because Latifah was "caught" wearing a bathing suit (on her vacation, for Christ-sakes)--she shouldn't be "allowed" to enjoy her personal time or that she should need "to get a license" to wear something that conforms to her shape. God, it just makes me sick when people judge others by their physical size of all things. There are a LOT more appropriate things by which to judge someone... weight and body shape should not be one of those.

Okay, sorry, enough ranting for now. In any case, if you're looking for someone who does NOT judge you for your body shape, check out these bbw personals.

Organization rocks!

July 30th, 2007 (07:00 pm)

I think I will always love organizing. Organizing scrapbooks, my messy-as-heck bedroom, my little brother's overloaded backpack... and so on. I think, when organizing "The Home" (that is, your home), storage cabinets are important for keeping the things you want hidden (or, at least, out of the way when you're not using them) separate from the things that you're using at the moment. CarGuyGarage.com offers a myriad of ways for you to organize your garage (and you don't have to be a guy to buy from them!) in an effort to make the space another room in your house, not just a room attached to the house.

Learning is e-learning is learning, I say

July 30th, 2007 (06:05 pm)

Learning is important. When my grandparents' parents were growing up, a high school education--if that--was all that was necessary to get along well in life. When my grandparents were growing up, having a high school diploma was more important than it had been for their parents. when my parents were growing up, a college education was a way to get ahead in the rat race. Now, while I've been growing up, it's become increasingly difficult to find a decent job (I'm searching right now, as a matter of fact!) without at least a bachelor's degree, if not more. Some companies don't even bother looking at resumes without a masters and/or doctoral degree prominently placed in the "Education" section.

Knowing all that, what can you do if you can't afford to just quit your current job to go back to school? What if there aren't any good schools (or any schools, for that matter) near you? In that case, try e-learning with Capella University. Accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (www.ncahlc.org), Capella is an online university that offers graduate degree programs in business, information technology, education, human services, public safety, and psychology, and bachelors degree programs in business, information technology, and public safety. From her bed and bound her in her Bones

Where we will we'll roam

Yo Ho, All Together
Hoist the Colours High
Heave Ho, Thieves and Beggers
Never Shall We Die!

Some men have died and some
Are alive and others sail on the sea --
With the keys to the cage and the Devil to pay
We lay to Fiddler's Green.

The bell has been raised from its
Watery grave; do you hear its sepulchral tone?
We are a calling all, pay heed the squall
And turn your sail toward home.

Every Little Thing She Does is Magic!

May 26th, 2007 (03:49 pm)

[Click on the picture for a larger version.] O.M.G. The Police are going on a NEW worldwide tour. I grew up on their music. My elder cousins were heartbroken when they broke up in the mid-80's and when the band performed at the Grammy Awards, I thought one of them [my cousins] was going to have a heart attack and die of her excitement. I would love to be able to give her the NEW Police CD, so I'm hoping that the internet gods are smiling upon me!

How can you go wrong with three lovely British men in awesome poses and wild hair? I remember my mom playing "Every Breath You Take" and "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" (which, by the way, are both on the second disc of their new album) when she was feeling low to cheer herself up... which only worked sometimes, 'cause then she'd remember that they broke up in '86 (a year after I was born). Wow... I didn't realise I have such a sorted history with The Police. Below are the tracks included on the new album, set to be released June 5 in the United States and June 11 internationally. For more information and for the Police CD, check out ThePolice.com!

Photos are available upon request. I MUST get rid of these items by May 30; prices are negotiable! Thanks; I hope to hear from you soon!

SOFA:
The sofa is 84"x35"x24" total. Seating area is 70"x21"x9". Cost: $100 plus you coming to pick it up and get it out of my apartment.

The chair is 34"x35"x24" total. Seating area is 23"x21"x9". Cost: $50 plus you coming to pick it up and get it out of my apartment.

DRAWERS:
The set of drawers is white; three small top drawers and six larger lower drawers; 45"x33"x15" total. Cost: $35 plus you coming to pick it up and get it out of my apartment.

SQUARE TABLE:
The square coffee table is in decent shape; some knicks on the legs, but nothing a little polish won't fix; 28"x28"x20" with room for storage underneath, if necessary. Cost: $25 plus you coming to pick it up and get it out of my apartment.

RECTANGULAR TABLE:
The rectangular coffee table isn't in as good shape as the square since it's seen more use, but it's sturdy and with a table cloth or runner will do just fine in any home; 50"x21"x14". Cost: $35 plus you coming to pick it up and get it out of my apartment.

OTHER OPTIONS:
Sofa + chair only: $125 plus you coming to pick them BOTH up and get them out of my apartment.

PayPerPost actually pays

May 18th, 2007 (06:42 pm)

I've had my ups and downs with PayPerPost. Although I'm relatively loyal (meaning, I write decent posts and do what I'm supposed to do), [info]5reasons is--unfortunately--a second-class blog because it's hosted by LiveJournal rather than having my own domain name or whatever. I was so irritated one day that I took a screen shot of the PPP website to prove that, at that time, there were no opportunities at all for "little bloggers" like myself. Still, when I signed on last September, I wasn't honestly expecting for my membership to go anywhere or to actually be paid anything for the posts I did write. Thankfully, I stuck it out, and was surprised one day in October to see a payment in my PayPal! As it turns out, I can make money blogging, and even though it's not TONS of $$$ from the Big Opps, it's still something. Every penny counts!

No more ice floors!

May 16th, 2007 (10:44 pm)

Hate waking up in the middle of the night or early in morning and feeling the shock to your system when you step onto ice-cold floor? Underfloor Heating by WarmFloors supplies a revolutionary underfloor heating system so thin it hardly makes an impression on floor height at all. Underfloor heating goes well with wood and laminate flooring and has many advantages over traditional heating systems.

First, it frees up wall space since WarmFloors' flooring is literally hidden right under your feet and there's no need for radiators and other unsightly warming systems.

Second, underfloor heating provides fast-acting heat when in use, filling each entire room with warmth from the bottom up (especially effective since heat rises).

Third, WarmFloors includes a ten year guarantee with each installation; the underflooring is designed to be durable and robust while at the same time less than half a millimeter thick!

Finally (and most notably!), underflooring eliminates the discomfort of walking on cold tiles, stone, or marble.

The system is most popular in bathrooms, kitchens, sun rooms, and conservatories, but can be installed anywhere where wood, stone, or marble floors are being fitted.

Bid4prizes

May 4th, 2007 (01:09 am)

Okay, so I know it sounds too good to be true (and if they--meaning anyone--ask[s] for your credit card information to "verify" something, it probably is), but I went to the site and give it my wary seal of approval. Be on your toes, as usual, but don't let the "FREE STUFF" motif scare you off just yet. Here's why...

Bid4prizes.com offers some hefty prizes for bidding. Prizes are free--if your bid is the lowest unique bid when the bidding ends. It works like this: the prize (say, a BMW... which is an actual prize, by the way) starts out bidding at 1¢. Let's say you bid 1¢. If, when the bidding ends, no one else has also bid 1¢, you win the prize. But, if something has also bid 1¢, that amount is no longer unique and the new lowest unique bid is 2¢. If only one person bids 2¢, then they win the prize, but if more than one person does, the new lowest unique bid is 3¢... and so on and so on.

Seems like a cool idea, huh? Head on over and bid your heart out... cautiously, of course. Also, a side note: you need a cell phone to participate. See the website for further details.
